How to Change a DC Fan on Your 3D Printer
Changing a DC Fan on Your 3D Printer
Overheating issues or excessive noise? It might be time to replace your printer’s DC fan. Swapping it out is easier than you think!
Here’s a simple step-by-step guide:
1.
Unplug and power off
your printer completely.
2.
Locate the faulty fan
(usually on the hotend or control board).
3.
Remove the screws or clips
securing the fan in place.
4.
Disconnect the wires
- note the polarity (red = positive, black = negative).
5.
Install the new fan
, matching the wire orientation.
6.
Secure it back in place
, reconnect the power, and test it out.
It’s a quick fix that can extend your printer’s life and improve performance. Just make sure to match the fan size and voltage (most are 24V or 12V).
